Meet Olga
Olga Lloyde is an educator in Howard County Public Schools and the proud mother of two beautiful children, Amiri and Mandisa. She received her B.A. from North Carolina Central University and her Masters of Education from Bowie State University. During her twenty-four-year long career as an educator, she has worked with children in both elementary and middle school grades in all subject areas. During three of those years she worked to develop a private preschool in Fairfax County, Virginia.
As a teenager, Olga Lloyde started her own business/organization. In the 1990s Learning for Liberation held summer camps and celebrations. This organization was designed to:
Allow children to explore the world around them
Create a network of families to support children
Develop a sense of pride amongst African American children by sharing African and African American culture and history
Expose parents to information and strategies
In 2012, Learning for Liberation was trademarked and began hosting parent discussions and scholarship parties to continue the work started in the 1990s. Olga Lloyde continues to work with families both in the public and private sector to help children reach their full potential.
